Markets

Focused on Austria, other EU countries on request

Our focus is Austria with 21 industries. We compile company data from other EU countries, such as Germany, Czechia or Poland, and from Florida (USA) on request.

Sources: our own database, Statistics Austria, Eurostat; figures and methodology on the database status page and in the methodology.

Data sources

Where the data comes from

Austria has no register from which contact details can be downloaded. The Austrian company database therefore relies on open data: Overture Maps has been processed so far, directories and legal notices are planned as further sources.

Data sources and methodology
Overture Maps (processed)

Open map data with name, address, phone and website of businesses; the source of all 218,653 records in the database (as of 3 November 2026).

Company websites, legal notices and disclosures (planned)

Name, address, companies register number, VAT ID, phone and email address that businesses publish themselves under § 5 ECG, § 14 UGB and § 25 MedienG.

OpenStreetMap, business directories and chamber lists (planned)

Open map data, public business directories and the directories of the chambers of the liberal professions are to add businesses that are missing from the map data.

Official statistics

Figures from Statistics Austria and Eurostat are only used to put the market size into context; they contain no details of individual businesses.

Practical guidance

From the file to a traceable dataset

Map columns before importing

Compare the 15 documented export fields with your target table. A general CSV file is not a guaranteed direct integration with any particular software.

Keep text fields as text

Postcodes, phone numbers, companies register numbers and VAT IDs are identifiers, not numbers to calculate with. Check data types in the import preview so that suffixes and check letters are kept.

Keep missing values visible

An empty field is not zero and not proof that the information does not exist. It means it is missing from the data provided. Your own verified information should not be overwritten by it.

Handle duplicates carefully

Match the companies register number or VAT ID where available. Similar names, a shared website or the same GISA number alone do not justify an automatic merge.

FAQ

Questions about the Austrian contact database

No. It contains company contacts such as the business phone number, the website and a general email address, but no names, job titles or direct lines of individuals. How to add contact persons from public sources: Finding contact persons in companies.

Not for marketing calls without prior consent: § 174(1) TKG 2021 applies to businesses in Austria too, and an export from kontaktdatenbank.at does not include consent. The numbers suit CRM maintenance, conversations with customers and prospects who have consented or contacted you themselves, and field sales planning. For a first approach, use a letter: B2B addresses for sales.

The export of a whole industry costs €229 to €449, depending on the industry, as a one-off final price without a subscription. Selections by federal state, district or additional filters are quoted individually. The price list shows the industry prices.

On 3 November 2026 it held 218,653 records, 209,587 of them with phone, email or website. The source processed so far is Overture Maps; further sources will be added. Figures by federal state are on the database status page. The quote confirms the actual size of your selection.

Choose an industry or name the federal state, district and required fields in the request form. Before you order, we confirm scope, data status, final price and delivery date in writing. A request is not yet an order.

Not without prior consent. Under § 174 TKG 2021, marketing emails, text messages and sales calls in Austria are only allowed with prior consent, also towards businesses. An export from kontaktdatenbank.at does not include consent. Use the data for postal mailings, your CRM, market analysis and sales territory planning. Overview with sources: B2B marketing and § 174 TKG 2021.

Because they are useful for matching against your records, maintaining your CRM and contacting businesses that have consented or approached you themselves. They are publicly listed business contacts, currently from the open map data of Overture Maps. They are not checked for deliverability or reachability.

Yes. The export and sample file page offers a CSV with 30 entirely fictitious businesses. It is suitable for checking delimiters, umlauts and field mapping. It says nothing about the size or contact quality of a real delivery.

Where available, the companies register number (FN with check letter) or the VAT ID. Both only appear in the export if the business publishes them itself. The GISA number identifies a trade licence, not a business, and is therefore not suitable as a key.

Yes. The standard is a UTF-8 CSV file with semicolons as delimiters that opens in Excel; on request we deliver XLSX or JSON. The export and sample file page shows the columns.

So far, all records in the Austrian company database come from Overture Maps, open map data with name, address, phone and website of businesses. Planned further sources: OpenStreetMap, public business directories, directories of the chambers of the liberal professions and the legal notices on company websites. The companies register (Firmenbuch), the trade licence register (GISA) and the register of associations are designed for individual searches; we do not take over the companies register in bulk. Details for each source: data sources and methodology.

Data about legal persons are not personal data under the GDPR. Data about sole traders, freelancers and named contact persons, by contrast, are personal data. We process them on the basis of legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR); the information under Art. 14 GDPR is on the data subject rights page, and you can object at any time via the objection page.
