Register of transport companies: licences searchable individually

Anyone carrying goods or passengers commercially needs a licence, which is recorded in a public register.

Freight transport
For businesses licensed under the Freight Transport Act, name or company name, address, transport manager, type of licence and number of vehicles are public (§ 24a(7) GütbefG).
Passenger transport
The same applies to coach and taxi companies under the Occasional Passenger Transport Act (§ 18a(7) GelverkG).
No contact details
Phone numbers and email addresses are not part of the public register data. They come from the businesses’ own details.

Not in the export

  • fleet size and vehicle types
  • names of dispatchers and transport managers
  • routes and loading capacity
  • certifications (for example for dangerous goods)
  • turnover and number of employees

These 15 columns are included.

Haulier, forwarder or courier: the group decides

A freight forwarder with its own fleet can be in 49.41 or 52.29, depending on what predominates. If you are looking for fleet operators, ask for both classes and refine the selection by website.

Many hauliers are small and micro businesses. For a postal mailing, the business address is more reliable than a phone number, which is often the owner’s mobile.

Sales calls and marketing emails require prior consent (§ 174 TKG 2021). A letter is suitable for a first approach.
